How To Export Flash MX 2004 Video with Audio
Posted by admin on 10/13/06 in Web Design
FLV (Flash Video) is used to play highly compressed video, at a higher quality over the Internet using Flash Player. FLVs also may be embedded in other SWF files.
Importing the video:
In order to get the video into Flash you must import it to the stage or library as a “Graphic Symbolâ€. I tried just about every variation of the import but was getting frustrated until I tried the one I though would not work. This is what I did:
I opened a new flash document with whatever attributes I needed, I pulled down the File menu and selected Import. I wanted to import the video as is so I selected “import the entire video†and hit next. I selected an appropriate compression profile for my purpose, which ended up being the “DSL/Cable 512 kbps†and selected the drop down list for advanced settings and went for “Create new profile..â€. In the Advanced Settings Wizard window I set the Color, Dimensions, and Track Options. Of the three, the Track Options were the most important so I selected:
* Very Important
- Import: “Graphic Symbolâ€
- Audio Track: “Integratedâ€
Click Next, type a name for the profile and a description and click Next again. Verify the settings on the Wizard again then click Finish. At this point the import will begin and will continue for however long based on the size of the video.
After the import is finished, you will need to open the Library by selecting Window > Library which will list the imported video and graphic symbol that was created during the import. Everything except the Embedded Video is irrelevant at this point and you will need to right click on your video in the Library panel. After right clicking on the video, you are presented with options and will want to select Properties. In the Properties window select Export and select the name and location of your .FLV file.
From here, you may create your media player and select your new FLV file for streaming.
